Part 1 — Governance

September 10th  |  1-2pm ET

AI Governance: Is It a Model or a Tool?

The classification decision at the front of every AI use case, and how it determines validation scope, documentation depth, and examiner exposure.

  • A model produces estimates that inform decisions. A tool retrieves and formats. The line matters.

  • Misclassifying up wastes validation budget. Misclassifying down is what examiners find.

  • Retrieval assistants and summarizers usually are not models. Credit scoring and pricing always are.

  • Write the classification rationale at intake. Reconstructing it a year later is not credible.

  • One decision cascades into everything downstream. Get it wrong and the whole file is wrong.
